An excavator is one of the most common pieces of construction machinery to be found on a job site.
Here are 4 things to consider when choosing the right excavator for your next project.
The size and demands of your project will be a determining factor in the type of excavator that is right for you. For example, if you are working on a small residential project or a job site with limited space, a mini excavator is better suited to you as it is more compact and easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces. Conversely, a medium size excavator is better suited to a large commercial project that will require a higher capacity of work.
It is important to consider the reach, depth, and height that the excavator is capable of. If you need to excavate a deep hole, the machine will need a long reach. Likewise, if you are looking to demolish a tall structure, you will need the excavator to have sufficient height.
Finally, you should consider whether the excavator you need is tracked or wheeled, as both have individual uses. Tracked excavators are a better choice for uneven terrain or soft ground as they provide more stability and traction, whereas wheeled excavators are more manoeuvrable on hard surfaces and less likely to damage finished surfaces.
With all the above in mind, which excavator is right for the job? Here are some of the types of excavators on offer.
Mini excavators can offer the same optimal user comfort but with easier transportation and tighter navigation capabilities. If you are working on a project with limited space, a mini excavator can provide additional flexibility to manoeuvre and operate within tight, confined spaces due to its short rear-end swing radius.
Wheeled excavators can be beneficial for roadside projects as they are better equipped to operate on hard surfaces than tracked excavators as they are faster and more manoeuvrable.
Medium Excavators are suitable for a wide range of job types and are a great choice for projects where you need good manoeuvrability and the option to work in small spaces but require more reach and power than a mini digger.
At HCMUK, we offer a wide range of excavators and wheel loaders, all of which are built to deal with demanding tasks and perform various projects.
If you are considering purchasing an excavator for your next project, our team can provide as much support as you need in making that decision.
