As part of HCMUK’s 50th Anniversary, we are celebrating our success and vast customer base through a series of insightful articles.
In this second instalment in the series, we spoke with David Mackay, machine operator and son of Murdo Mackay, owner of Murdo Mackay Plant Hire based in the Isle of Lewis, in Scotland.
Murdo Mackay has operated Hitachi machines for over 40 years from the earliest machines to a Hitachi ZX130LCN-5.
The company’s first Hitachi machine was a 1997 EX60, and the business now has three Hitachi machines, all in daily use; a ZX130LCN-1, a ZX130LCN-5 and finally a ZX70-1LC, which has over 22,000 thousand hours on the clock!
Speaking about the ZX70-1LC machine, David said:
“Our Hitachi ZX70-1LC is still working on drainage, foundation, and landscaping jobs. It’s been used every day since we purchased the machine, with the same operator and we’ve had never encountered an issue with it.
“We love using Hitachi machines as you are guaranteed unrivalled reliability and our ZX70-1LC is an example of that! This machine has been at the core of our business, and we will continue to use it for as long as possible.
“The Product Support from HCMUK is also fantastic, the machine has never missed a service and the maintenance provided by the service engineers has helped to prolong the machines working life, increasing our profitability each day.”
